Our Vineyard
On gentle slopes overlooking the sea, with cool sea breezes and perfect soil conditions Braydun Hill is an ideal grape growing position.  With views like ours, are vines are happy, the grapes are happy and the wine is just superb!

Tony and Carol decided early on to do one thing and to do it well; hence the decision to produce top quality wine from the top vine variety, Shiraz.

Combining the tradition of grazing and grape growing, our philosophy is to maintain a clean and green vineyard without the use of pesticides. We move our sheep into the vineyard straight after vintage where they stay until budburst in the spring. Permanent pasture between the rows provides good feed, and the sheep provide good natural fertiliser for the vines.

During the extension of the vineyard in 1998, Tony fell from his horse while competing cross-country. Spinal and head injuries meant that for quite some time he was confined to a wheelchair, and received intensive rehabilitation from a team of dedicated health professionals. Undaunted, in the months that followed, he replaced the wheelchair for a ride on mower, and was soon back out in the vineyard.  It is a credit to his willpower and unswerving belief in the rapidly growing reputation of Braydun Hill to produce superb quality Shiraz that he is now able to walk again unaided.

We are very proud of our small team which includes Rebecca Kennedy, winner of many winemaker awards, including WineState Magazine for the top Australian Shiraz. Beck made our very first vintage in 2001, and has continued to help us produce multi award winning Braydun Hill Shiraz wines vintage after vintage ever since.
